Guth DeConzo Consulting Engineers, with offices in New York City, Troy, NY, Lake Success, NY and Stony Brook, NY is looking for a talented Senior Construction Superintendent to join our Construction Management team in the New York, NY area.

Candidates must be highly motivated with 10 years minimum experience in a general construction environment, preferably healthcare. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are a prerequisite. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Coordinate subcontractor work of multiple bid packages with Owner representatives. Daily quality control of workmanship to ensure contract compliance. Work closely with Senior CM and other project team members to address daily issues. Read, interpret plans, project specifications and bulletins. Plan, prepare and manage schedules including subcontractor weekly look aheads. Attend all project meetings. Possess a strong effective work ethic to enable communications both verbal and written. Be able to identify and request all long lead items associated with the project. Coordination and implementation of all owner driven requests/requirements. Must have the ability to manage multiple subcontractors and suppliers. Ensure subcontractor compliance with all project specific safety requirements. Demonstrate the ability to think analytically and strategically to solve problems. Computer literacy is a requirement.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in general construction, 5 of which must be in a Construction Superintendent role.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience with hospital and healthcare work is preferred, but not required.

This is an entry level position for a candidate possessing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Other degreed candidates will be considered. Candidates must be highly motivated with less than 2 years experience in Construction Management, preferably with a high degree of proficiency in Combined Heat & Power, Fuel Cell, High Voltage, mechanical and electrical construction projects. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are a prerequisite. To ensure success as a construction accountant, you should display excellent business acumen and the ability to understand and interpret project costs through efficient accounting. Ultimately, a top-notch construction accountant is an analytical and detail-oriented individual with a high level of financial accuracy.

Construction Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with the Senior CM personnel to develop a detailed, cost-effective budget for the project.
  • Performing accounting duties throughout the project, such as preparing invoices, estimating cash flow, and signing off on purchase orders.
  • Analyzing all transactions and working unforeseen costs into the budget.
  • Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes.
  • Preparing cost analyses by interpreting projects’ financial data and information.
  • Reporting any financial risks and budgetary discrepancies to management for review.
  • Researching market trends and projecting construction-related price increases/decreases.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Keeping abreast with both the construction and accounting industry.

Construction Accountant Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • A certification in construction accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 year’s experience in private or public accounting.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, such as QuickBooks and NetSuite.
  • Working knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
